ECSE Connect is an online community for Bloomington Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) families, i.e. parents and caregivers of kids on an IEP, IFSP, 504 plan, etc., or parents and caregivers of kids with complex medical needs. The community enables these families to connect with and support each other. The community is moderated by ECSE parents who are also members of the Bloomington Early Learning Advisory Council.

Fill out our Request to Join form which includes providing name, email address, describing your relationship to Bloomington Early Learning Services, and agreeing to these Community Guidelines:
Our main objective is to support each other, therefore we listen and offer encouragement without judgment.
We do not promote "cures" or unproven causes for various conditions (e.g. vaccines cause autism).
We are respectful of everyone's abilities, race, gender, religion, culture, etc.
We are mindful to frame comments in regard to our own experience (we can learn a lot from each other's experiences).
We do not share personal information we learn about here outside of the group.
Once approved, you will receive a welcome email with an invite link to the ECSE Connect Discord server.
Do I have to live in Bloomington to join?
No, but you need to be currently enrolled in Bloomington Early Learning Services OR interested in learning more about its programs.
Where is the community hosted?
ECSE Connect is hosted on a Discord server. More about Discord.
How is my privacy protected?
The ECSE Connect Discord server is a private online group. Only individuals who have filled out the Request to Join form and been approved will receive an invitation to join the server.
How do you ensure this is a safe place to share about my family/children?
We have a verification process to ensure the integrity of the community; this includes all members having a relationship with Bloomington Early Learning Services and agreeing to the Community Guidelines (see above).
Do I have to share or can I just join to see what others are talking about?
You can do whatever works for you! While we encourage everyone to engage, we also realize support might be “being heard” or simply observing what others are sharing.
What if I am having trouble getting in or have questions about Discord or the community?
Send an email to our community moderator at ECSEconnect@gmail.com. We would be happy to help you!
